Road Transport Expo is delighted to be hosting the UK final of the Hiab World Crane Championship 2022 (WCC) on Saturday 2 July.
Designed to celebrate the expertise of the world’s top crane operators, the popular event sees contestants from the UK compete at local level, before the UK winner heads off to the global final at the IAA Transportation fair in Hanover on 24-25 September.
Using a custom-built track for 2022, operators will demonstrate their skills and precision at maximum speed around eight obstacles arranged in a set sequence.
The operator with the shortest time needed – including any penalties – wins the UK competition and will represent Hiab UK at global level in Germany.
The world final will challenge the best crane drivers from around the world to go head-to-head where the winner receives a prize worth up to €25,000.
Attendees at the Road Transport Expo are also invited to meet the experts where during the three days of the show Hiab will exhibit its range - including Hiab Loader Cranes, MULTILIFT, MOFFETT, DEL and ZEPRO equipment - plus you can try out Hiab's sustainable offerings such as the MOFFETT e-series in its demonstration ring.
Ian Mitchell, Hiab UK and Ireland’s director of sales & service, said: “The Hiab UK team is looking forward to attending the Road Transport Expo and it’s great to be able to welcome back the WCC.
"We are once again expecting to see an exciting event where the best of the best competes for legendary status! We want to find the UK’s finest operator to represent us on the global stage.
"If you think you have what it takes then please register to attend.”
To join in the action, Road Transport Expo visitors can head over to the outside Cranes & Materials Handling Zone to see live demonstrations and practice heats taking place on Thursday and Friday, with the live final taking place on Saturday 2 July.
Harbour Haulage has put a new Mercedes-Benz Actros L on the road.
Supplied by Aberdeen Dealer BLS Truck & Van, the 2551 6x2 tractor will be used for transporting fish offal and other seafood-related products used in the manufacture of fertilisers and animal feed, to customers throughout Scotland.
Seeing as it will move both a curtainsider and a bulk tipper, Bailey Hydraulics of Wisbech, was tasked with removing and replacing the standard fuel tank with an aluminium combination tank for diesel and hydraulic oil.
The Peterhead-based operator opted for a StreamSpace cab, a decision explained by director Raymond Simpson: “We make a regular run for a major customer that takes the truck under a relatively low bridge on the west coast, near Inverawe. The BigSpace would probably get under it but we wanted to leave a margin so opted for the StreamSpace instead.”
The truck will be inspected and maintained by BLS Truck & Van, under a three-year Mercedes-Benz Complete Service Contract.
“From the little I’ve seen so far, BLS Truck & Van looks professional and well managed,” says Simpson. “Having delivered the Actros L it now has a proper foot in the door; I’m optimistic the dealer will make the most of this opportunity to prove itself.”
Mercedes-Benz will be showing its new Actros L at Road Transport Expo at NAEC Stoneleigh (30 June to 2 July). Register now for FREE.
