This is the moment a mother was left in a panic after her toddler disappeared into a gap in their couch when her back was turned. 

Security camera footage shows Taylor Hopper-Davis's son clambering on the family's couch at their home in the US on April 6.  

But the family's sectional sofa has slightly come apart at one end and the young boy falls back and disappears between two cushions.

Ms Hopper-Davis hears a loud thud and immediately realizes something is wrong and turns around to try and find her son. 

She runs over to the couch and jumps up to check if he fell off the back and onto the ground but she can't see him. 

Running frantically, Ms Hopper-Davis continues to look for her son but can't seem to find him anywhere.

She hauls him up and holds him close to her chest as the boy cries after his ordeal

The nurse holding her newborn baby also looks baffled as to where the boy has gone.

She said: 'I was checking on my newborn daughter the nurse was holding when my son took a plunge into the couch that came apart.'
