BATAVIA, N.Y. — One man is dead after a workplace accident Tuesday afternoon in Batavia.

Police said an employee at Western New York Concrete fell into a stone dust hopper and got trapped.

Despite rescue efforts by other employees and first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as 64-year-old Randy Ridd of Batavia.

Investigators are calling it an accident and do not suspect any foul play.
