John F. Parma, age 91, longtime resident of Two Rivers, died Saturday evening, June 25, 2022 at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc, with family at his side. John was born in Kewaunee County on September 9, 1930 to Charles and Frances (Uhlers) Parma. He attended Wayside Country School and worked at home on the family farm and at Hamilton Mfg. until drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951. John served from 1951 to 1953, mainly stationed in France working with road and cement crews. After honorable discharge he returned home and continued his employment with Hamilton Industries, eventually retiring after 42 years. John was united in marriage to Janet Stodola on September 14, 1955 at St. John's Catholic Church in Krok. The couple was blessed with seven children and sixty-six years of marriage. In 1992, during his retirement years, John began working part-time for the City of Two Rivers (Cemetery Dept), where he enjoyed fourteen years of seasonal employment. John and Janet enjoyed many years of travel together as well as many bus tours. They also enjoyed polka dancing and were long-time members of the Happy Hoppers Dance Club. John was passionate about sports. He was a huge fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and the Green Bay Packers. John was an avid softball and dartball player for many years, playing ball up until the age of 79. He also enjoyed throwing horseshoes as a member of the Two Rivers Horseshoe League. John was a member of the Wisconsin Czechs, the Czechs of Norman, the Shoto Conservation Club, and American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers. Survivors include his wife, Janet; seven children: Joe (Kristine) Parma, Darlene (John) Popelar, Jeff (Lori) Parma, John K. Parma, Dawn (Neil) Tice, Jerold (Lisa) Parma, and Donna (Jim) Kluz; fifteen grandchildren: Jacob (Jamie) Parma, Phillip (Nickey) Popelar, Kelley Popelar, Michael Parma, Kevin Parma, Christel Wilfert (Traci), Heidi Wilfert, Andy (Christina) Tice, Alex Tice, Joshua (Morgan) Tice, Jacquelyn Tice, Chloe Parma, Connor Parma, Bradley (Holly) Kluz, Paul Kluz (fiance, Jelly Beltran); twelve great-grandchildren, with another expected in September. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Darlene Parma; a brother-in-law, David Stodola (special friend, Nancy Brockman); special friends, Dave Beyer, and Kathy and Jim Paschen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances Parma; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otto and Emily Stodola; one grandson, Adam Parma; five brothers and sisters: Clarence (Marcella) Parma, Charles (Helen) Parma, Sylvester (Lorraine) Parma, Frances (Norbert) Rasmussen, and Marcella (Joe) Cherney; one brother-in-law, Raymond Stodola; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Stodola. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Dave Pleier, with entombment in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside honors will be held at the church immediately following the mass by members of VFW Post #1248 and American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Thursday morning from 8:30 until 10:15 a.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church website or St. Peter the Fisherman Facebook page.
